About Hood... Two-year starter at shortstop who is expected to be back there again this season... will also be back in the middle of the Deacons' lineup... has shown consistency both in the field and at the plate... has a strong arm and is able to make the tough play look easy... worked hard during the offseason to improve his speed... spent the summer of 2007 with the McKinney Marshals of the Texas Collegiate League... majoring in communication... born Oct. 13, 1986... son of Kirby & Kristi Hood.
In 2007... Started all 63 games of the season at shortstop... batted .278 with 42 RBIs and a team-high 72 base hits... finished second on the team in RBIs and total plate appearances (304)... stole seven bases in nine attempts... led the team with 22 multi-hit games... was second with 10 multi-RBI games.
In 2006... Batted .288 as a freshman, starting in all but one game... second on the team in hits with 61 and third in runs with 41... second on the team in assists (137)... went 5-for-5 with an RBI against Charlotte on Feb 12... had 14 other multi-hit games... had a season-high three RBIs against Elon on March 8.
Prior to Wake Forest... Four-year letterwinner at Nederland HS... played in every single game during scholastic career... awarded Nederland HS Gatorade Will to Win Athlete of the Year... earned all-district honors at both shortstop (four times) and pitcher... great athlete, also played high school football... three-year letterwinner in football... also named all-district as quarterback... awarded district Most Valuable Player in football and all-state... member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society... ranked in the top 30 of his high school class with a 3.88 grade point average.
