Men's Golf Completes First Round

Deacons in seventh place at Cuscowilla Tournament.

EATONTON, Ga. - Sophomore Jamie Gallacher (Surrey, England/Bradfield College) fired a team-best as the Wake Forest men's golf team recorded a team score of 293 to stand in seventh place after the first round of play at the Cuscowilla Intercollegiate golf tournament. The event is played on the 6,718-yard, par-70 course at the Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga.

Georgia Tech currently stands in first place with a 281 in the first round, six strokes ahead of second-place UNC. Kent State's Ben Curtis holds a one-stroke lead in the individual standings after one round with a 2-under 68.

Gallacher currently stands tied for 12th place at 1-over, while senior Ryan Gioffre (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro Day) is tied for 16th at 2-over after firing a 72. Senior Todd Lynch (Winston-Salem, NC/North Forsyth) shot a 74 in the opening round and is tied for 24th place, while senior Ray Floyd, Jr. (Miami Beach, FL/Miami Country Day) is tied for 39th at 6-over with a 76. Junior Oscar Sanchez (Canary Island, Spain/Leadbetter Academy-FL) struggled with an 11-over 81 and stands tied for 57th.

Second round action continues today, with the final round played tomorrow morning.
