Men's Golf Finishes 13th at Carpet Capital Collegiate
Wake Forest shaves 18 strokes off score in final day.

DALTON, Ga.-- The Wake Forest men's golf team shot a 294 in the final round of play to finish 13th of 18 teams at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic golf tournament, played on the 6,896-yard, par-72 course at The Farm Golf Club in Dalton, Ga.
The Demon Deacons, who had fallen to 17th place after a disastrous 24-over second round, shaved 18 strokes off their score in the final day of play but were still well out of contention. The Deacs were 53 strokes behind Clemson, who finished the tournament at 9-under par to win the team title by 10 strokes. The Tigers' Lucas Glover and Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder shared the individual title, both finishing at 4-under par. Wake Forest senior Ryan Gioffre (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro Day) was the Deacons' top finisher, placing 38th at 9-over par after shooting a 73 in round three. Senior Thomas Parker (Laurinburg, NC/Scotland) and junior Michael Capone (Cranston, RI/Bishop Hendricken) both tied for 53rd place at 12-over par, shooting a 74 and a 73 in the final round, respectively. Senior Ray Floyd, Jr. (Miami Beach, FL/Miami Country Day) shot a 74 to finish tied for 70th at 16-over, while sophomore Jamie Gallacher (Surrey, England/Bradfield College) finshed tied for 84th at 25-over after carding an 80 in the final round.
Wake Forest is next in action on April 10-11 at the PING Intercollegiate in Cary, NC.
