-- a clutch player who scored six gamewinning goals in 1999 -- can also play
in the midfield -- ranks fifth all-time in Deacon history with 53 career
points.
1999: Named second team all-ACC -- Started 19 of his 20 games for the Deacs
-- led the team in goals (eight), shots (43) and ranked second in total
points (19) -- six of his eight goals were game-winners, including games
against Coastal Carolina, Vanderbilt, UNC-Greensboro, NC State, High Point
and Virginia Commonwealth -- Scored two goals vs. NC State, the first just
16 seconds into the game and the second on a penalty kick -- Tallied the
game-winner and assisted on another goal vs. Virginia Commonwealth in the
NCAA tournament.
1998: Played in all 19 game, starting 13 at forward -- emerged as one of the
team's top offensive threats -- ranked second on the team in overall scoring
(20 pts.), as well as in goals (7) and assists (6) -- proved to be a clutch
performer, scoring several big goals for the Deacs -- led the team in
game-winning goals with three, against Radford, Charleston Southern, and
No. 10 South Carolina -- tied his career high with five points vs.
Charleston Southern, tallying two goals and an assist -- also notched a goal
and an assist in wins over St. Bonaventure, Radford and UNC Asheville --
came on strong down the stretch with four goals and two assists in the last
six games.
1997: Played in 18 of 20 games, starting 11 as a freshman -- ranked as the
team's fourth-leading scorer with five goals and four assists for 14 points
-- made his first career start just three games into the season vs. Radford
-- scored his first collegiate goal in Wake's 3-1 loss to No. 13 Virginia --
netted two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist for a
career-high five points vs. Appalachian State -- tallied an assist vs.
Belmont Abbey and a goal and an assist vs. NC State in the ACC
Quarterfinals.
Before WFU: Had an outstanding prep and club career in Tennessee -- A 1997
Parade All-American -- the 1996 Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year -- a
first-team all-state and all-region honoree from 1994-96 -- voted McCallie's
best all-around athlete -- the 1996 Chattanooga Player of the Year -- an
NSCAA All-South pick from 1994-96 -- scored 84 goals in his high school
career -- also played with the Hamilton FC club program -- 1995 Tennessee
state champions -- an ODP regional team participant -- the 1997 Region III
Player of the Year -- an ODP national pool player in '96 -- also participated
in football, earning all-region honors as a placekicker -- kicked a
school-record 57-yard field goal.
